How to Use Dhup Cones

A simple guide to placing, lighting and enjoying a dhup cone, with practical reminders for safe use at home.

Choose a suitable holder

Place the dhup cone upright in a stable, heat-resistant incense holder. Set the holder on a clear, level surface where ash can fall safely. Keep it away from curtains, paper, decorations and other materials that can burn.

Light the cone

Follow the instructions supplied with your specific product. Light the tip briefly until it catches, then gently extinguish the visible flame if the package directs you to do so. The cone should smoulder and release fragrance. If it will not stay lit, check the product directions rather than adding accelerants or leaving it unattended.

Stay nearby while it burns

Use incense in a well-ventilated area and keep it out of reach of children and pets. Never leave a burning cone unattended. Extinguish it before leaving the room or going to sleep, and let the holder and ash cool completely before moving or disposing of them.

Burn time and fragrance strength vary by product and setting. Check the product page and packaging for the details of the dhup cone you have chosen.
